The Royal Scot is happy to support the annual Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash! 

This is a spectacular event that sees Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour transformed into an outdoor concert stage. 

Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash is the largest annual outdoor symphony event in Canada, attracting up to 40,000 Victoria residents and visitors.

Exciting 2009 Splash Young Soloists: Christine Wong (piano) and Josh Lovell (tenor). Our soloists are supported by the Leslie and Murray Glazier Young Musicians Fund.

                 2:00PM  -  Children’s activities on the legislature lawn

                 4:00PM  -  Opening act: The Vic High R&B Band

                 7:30PM  -  Maestra Tania Miller and the Victoria Symphony

                10:00PM - Fireworks and the 1812 Overture.

Admission Details

Admission is by a $5 donation, this year everyone who donates $5 or more will receive a Birthday Button which they can wear proudly to show their support for Bayview Symphony Splash and the Victoria Symphony. You’ll find volunteers with donation buckets roaming the crowds or you can track down one of our donation barrels. All proceeds go to support the Victoria Symphony.

Canada vs USA Women’s Hockey Exhibition Game 

The Canadian and American women’s national hockey teams will face off at 7:00 pm, Monday, October 5, 2009 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.  Canada’s National Women’s Team will face the United States’ Women’s National Team in a series of six exhibition games, ahead of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, BC.

The October 5th hockey game is presented in partnership with Community Living Victoria, Sport Host Victoria, Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, City of Victoria and Hockey Canada with the majority of fundraising proceeds going to Community Living Victoria and the National Women’s Hockey Program.

The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay begins October 30th in Victoria!

 The Olympic flame arrives in Victoria directly from Athens, Greece and will begin its journey across Canada, travelling more than 45,000 km (28,000 miles) before arriving back in Vancouver on Feb. 12, 2010. signaling the start of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games at B.C Place Stadium.  The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay route will be the longest domestic torch relay route in Olympic history.

The flame will arrive early in the day on October 30th to much fanfare and excitement at a ceremony at the Inner Harbour, and a large-scale community celebration is being planned for that evening – again in the Inner Harbour – to celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay’s first day in Canada.  Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the festivities!

133 artisits to showcase their work in the street

On Saturday, July 18th from noon until 4:00pm check out Moss Street from Fort St. to Dallas Rd.  There is a Food & Beverage Garden from 11:00am – 9:00pm with dancing to Kumbia from 4:00pm – 9:00pm.  This annual event attracts more than 25,000 people to view art works as well as eat, drink and dance.  The weather is going to be fantastic this year!!!

The New Marine Centre is now open in the town of Sidney, 30 minutes north of downtown Victoria.  Giant aquariums are home to hundreds of fish, invertebrates, marine plants, lurking octopus, and a rainbow of anemones.  The kids will love it!  Ask the Guest Services Department for directions.

The city is heating up, summer is here and there are so many reasons to rediscover Victoria!
