Elton John’s band includes Davey Johnstone on guitar, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums, and Kim Bullard on keyboards. One of the most successful live acts on the road today, Elton and his band put on the kind of concert you will never forget: the entire audience standing, dancing and singing along with much-loved classic songs such as “Your Song”, “Daniel”, “Rocket Man”, “Bennie and the Jets” and many more including selections from The UNION, Elton and Leon Russell’s critically acclaimed album on Decca Records available now. John holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time, “Candle in the Wind ’97,” which sold 37 million copies. Since his career began in 1969 he has played almost 3,000 concerts worldwide.

2011 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships come to Victoria!

Fans dazzled by figure skating at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver will have a chance to see more of the sport when two Canadian championships are held in Vbmoictoria in January.

The B.C. capital will host the 2011 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships and the 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals.  More than 250 skaters are expected to compete in the two events, which will be held at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

“British Columbia has been a very special place for Canadian skaters these past several years,” William Thompson, Skate Canada’s chief executive officer, said in a release. “We are delighted to bring these two events here and to continue such a wonderful tradition of Canadian skating in Victoria.”

The junior nationals will be held Jan. 17-20. The Canadian championships will be Jan. 21-23.

Victoria previously hosted the Canadian championships in 1978 and 1988. Victoria was also the site of Skate Canada International in 1984, 1992 and 2006.

“Fans here will truly have the best of both worlds,” said Thompson. “They will see some of the top skaters in the world, including our Olympic champions and world medallists compete.

The Royal Scot Welcomes Pacific Cup Players to Victoria

For the 34th time, adult hockey teams from Western Canada and the United States are gathering in Victoria for the Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) Pacific 41570_127428950633602_7026_nCup tournament.

There will be 122 teams taking part in the three-day event which runs from Friday through Sunday at most of the rinks in Greater Victoria — Oak Bay, Panorama, Pearkes, Juan de Fuca, Naden, Kerry Park, Bear Mountain, Ian Stewart and Sooke.

There are 20 divisions will all the finals scheduled for Sunday.
