March 10th, 12 – 4 pm

In a celebration of all things Celtic, the second annual Bastion Square Celtic Festival will take place March 10 from noon to 4 pm.  The Festival will open at noon with a proclamation from Victoria’s Town Crier.  The afternoon features a full line-up of entertainment including performances by the O’Brien School of Irish Dancing, The Electric Timber Company, The BC Fiddle Orchestra, and Celtic fiddling soloist Daniel Lapp.

At 2 pm there will be a Gold Coin Scramble.  A section of Bastion Square will become the gold at the end of the rainbow.  Hundreds of gold coins will be scattered and kids 12 and under are invited to ’scramble’ for coins.  A few of the coins will be identified with a four-leaf clover and those coins earn St. Patrick’s Day-themed prizes.

AlonzoKingLINESBalletMarch 9th - 10th, 7:30 pm

When San Francisco’s LINES Ballet performed in Victoria in 2008, the Times Colonist said “There is genius evident in the choreography of Alonzo King”.  They return this season with two new works that showcase the grace and elegance, the fire and commitment of these nine exquisite dancers.  King is the future of contemporary ballet, creating small gems with attention to detail: each piece is finely honed and polished.
Tickets to this show at the Royal Theatre can be purchased through www.rmts.bc.ca, at the Royal Theatre box office, or by calling 250-386-6121.
