World Oceans Day Events

World Fisheries Trust and Esquimalt Parks and Recreation are hosting world ocean day. They will educate how our local watersheds connect to the ocean and what we can do to keep our ocean healthy. There will be a touch tank, interpretive walks, bouncy castle, food, raffle and prizes.

Fisherman's Wharf

Location: Fisherman’s Wharf at 12 Erie

The Wharf is hosting this event to fundraise for the deployment of an artificial reef-reef balls & a herring spawning project in the inner harbor. There will be several interactive and educational displays range from touch tanks, interactive 3D watershed model, scavenger hunt, orca adoption, Ocean Wise Fish and much more.

Victoria Conservatory of Music: Jubilee Grand Finale

The year-long Jubilee concert series is now coming to an end. The grand finale show will feature the world premiere of a new piano quintet by renowned Canadian Artist and Composer Stephen Brown. The night will also feature fiddler/jazz artist Daniel Lapp and friends.

Victoria International Kite Festival

This International Kite Festival will have professional kite enthusiasts, amateurs and spectators alike. A special children’s zone will host activities including kite making. The public is welcome to come and fly their own kite.

One or two extraordinary large international kites will be featured along with performances from quad teams with choreographed kite flying along with music.

This annual family event has activities, entertainment and food for everyone. Highlights include the Giant Swing Ride, fun inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, duck pond in the Family Fun Zone and unique items for sale in the Artisan Craft Market.

An international food court will have some of Victoria’s foodie favourites including Puerto Vallarta Amigos, the Hungry Rooster, Langos by Louie, Mama Rosie’s and the Greek Community Society. Performances from local artists including Caleb and the Colts, the Labeau-Petersen Band, the Soul Shakers and a set by Salsa Caliente Dance.

Today you can go down to the inner waterway to catch the Fairway Gorge Super Sprints Dragon Boat Races.

Night at the Museum: Gold

Witness the new exhibition Gold Rush! El Dorado in BC come alive with this year’s Night at the Museum. The night will be filled with hands-on activities, games and interactions throughout the feature gallery and will end the event with early morning yoga and a hearty breakfast.

The adventures will include creating your own currency next to a million dollar gold coin, gold panning, orienteering through darkened galleries searching for golden nuggets, a special IMAX viewing and behind-the-scenes midnight tour with the Royal BC Museum security guards. There might also be an encounter with the infamous Billy Barker!
