8th Annual Colour Your Palate

This fundraising event for the artsREACH program puts local chefs against each other to create a colour-inspired canapé, using a randomly drawn colour. This years’ colours include: blue, green, red, orange, yellow and purple!

Professional judges will blind-taste and vote for winners in two categories: “Best Tasting Creation: and “Most Colourful Creation”. Guests at the event receive a complimentary glass of wine or beer, visit each chef’s station and sample each creation. Also included is a vote for “People’s Choice” award, a silent auction and a wonderful door prize!

Join the Royal Roads University and the Vancouver Island Ex-Cadet Club at the Parade Square below Hatley Castle for a traditional Military Sunset Ceremony. This event is the kick off for Royal Roads’ year-long celebration of 75 years of learning and leadership, with 55 years as a military college and institution and 20 years as a public applied research university.

The Ceremony will include the Royal Military College of Canada Pipes and Drums, the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the US Air Force Academy’s Drum and Bugle Corps, a fly past by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, as naval guard from Maritime Forces Pacific, guns of the 5th (BC) Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, and member of the Pacific Regional Cadet Support Unit.

Creatively United for the Planet Earth Week Festival

This all-ages community event features local food, over 35 local musical acts, 60 innovative displays, electric car and bike displays and demonstrations, world-class photography, poets, afternoon tea and a silent auction!

Other planned activities include yoga, healing arts, a locally-sourced organic dinner party, short films and documentaries, kid’s activities, art and art-making and much more. Costumes welcome!

The English Inn is well situated off of a busy bus route, is wheelchair accessible and will have bike lockup during the festival.

“Violinist Pablo Diemecke is a Grammy Award Nominee (2002) for “Best Classical Album”with the Carlos Chavez Violin concerto, a live recording with the National Symphony of Mexico.  He was Concert Master with the Victoria Symphony for over two decades and his solo engagements have taken him throughout North America and Europe.

Like a sparkling gem in a treasure box, you can expect this concert to feature varied flavours and musical colours and textures, virtuoso playing, gorgeous light romantic works and an exploration of a wide range of musical emotions.

The ensemble also features Shima Takeda on violin, Lawrence Skaggs on cello and Elizabeth Massi on viola.

Victoria’s 25th Annual Inner Harbour Boat Show

Hosted by the British Columbia Yacht Brokers Association (BCYBA) this show is now the largest in water boat show on the west coast. Around 200 boats of all sizes as well as boat yard services, hardware, equipment, navigation electronics, clothing and more will be on display at Ship Point.

Sales have occurred right at the show as the brokers are usually prepared to offer special pricing as well as during show sale offers.

Annual Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival

We are nearing the end of the first week of this annual 6 week festival which hosts over five thousand Victoria City and area students of music, dance and dramatic arts. Renowned experts in their field will be judging at the different stages throughout the city.
