“This is a solo exhibition of new works by Lenard Collins. Encaustic (wax) painting originates in ancient Greece and Egypt where artists would use wax and other precious materials like gold leaf to fashion the death masks of wealthy patrons. Lenard Collins’ work is influenced by the artist’s love of ancient culture and pays homage to these amazing artists and artifacts. The work exploits this deeply textural medium to capture lush, intensely colourful abstracts and portraits.”
